Art Deco Cerused Oak Credenza by Jean-Charles Moreux, France 1940s

$18,000.00

A monumental credenza buffet attributed to Jean-Charles Moreux, France circa 1940s. Large in scale with classic art deco features. Cerused oak finish with brass accents and center glass cupboard. Whimsical relief carvings of mermaids and ships. Doors open to reveal two adjustable height shelves. Two keys included. Sourced in France.

Jean-Charles Moreux (1889–1956) was a French architect, landscape designer, and decorator known for his elegant, neoclassical yet imaginative approach to design. A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Moreux became a key figure in the early 20th-century French design scene, particularly during the interwar period. He designed bespoke furniture that echoed classical forms but with a poetic and sometimes surrealist touch—often incorporating natural motifs like leaves, branches, and animals.

Dimensions: 118.25ʺW × 21.25ʺD × 41.25ʺH

Item Type: Vintage, Antique or Pre-owned

Condition: Good vintage condition. Signs of wear as expected with age and use. Mild patina throughout with minor discolorations and surface abrasions. Areas of water damage to interior of cabinets (does not affect overall appearance). Signs of minor cosmetic touch ups and repairs.
