Antique Chinese Cizhou Style Pottery Jar, Ming Dynasty Period
Antique Chinese pottery storage jar in the manner of Cizhou ware, likely dating to the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). The vessel features a rounded baluster form with a narrow neck and hand-painted iron-brown decoration over a buff-colored slip ground. Stylized floral and foliate motifs encircle the body alongside geometric banding at the shoulder and rim.
The surface displays characteristic kiln and glaze irregularities associated with traditional northern Chinese folk ceramics. The restrained palette and freehand brushwork are consistent with historic Cizhou-type stoneware produced for utilitarian and decorative use during the late imperial period.
