Model 1264 rocking chaise designed by Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates. The armless form features a continuous, sculpted profile with a reclining back, deeply curved seat, and raised leg support. Two parallel metal rockers follow the underside of the chaise, supporting the upholstered body and allowing a rocking motion.
Newly reupholstered in cut mohair featuring a geometric pattern in creamy beige. Alternating areas of pile and closely spaced diagonal lines create a textured surface, with fabric-covered buttons accenting the back and seat.
The chaise’s extended proportions and undulating silhouette exemplify Pearsall’s sculptural approach to upholstered seating.
Adrian Pearsall (1925–2011) was an American furniture designer known for sculptural seating, elongated proportions, and expressive wood bases. Trained in architectural engineering, he brought an architectural approach to furniture that became characteristic of American mid-century modern design.
Craft Associates was founded in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in 1952 by Adrian Pearsall and his brother Richard. The company produced upholstered seating, tables, and other furnishings, becoming particularly associated with Pearsall’s curved silhouettes and combinations of upholstery, wood, glass, and metal.
