Verner Panton Bouclé Chair

$2,800.00

Verner Panton (1926 – 1998) was a Danish architect and designer widely recognized as one of the most innovative and influential figures in 20th-century furniture and interior design. Born in Gamtofte, Denmark, he studied at Odense Technical College and graduated in architecture from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1951. Early in his career he worked for the architect Arne Jacobsen before establishing his own studio in 1955, where he began experimenting with form, materials, and color.

Panton’s work is noted for its exploration of unconventional materials—especially plastics—dynamic geometric forms, and vibrant use of color. He is particularly associated with iconic designs such as the Panton Chair, the first cantilever chair moulded from a single piece of plastic, and other furniture and lighting that challenged traditional design norms. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s he also created immersive interiors, integrating furniture, lighting, textiles, and architectural elements into unified environments.

Over his career, Panton’s work helped redefine modern design aesthetics by embracing experimental techniques and playful forms. Many of his designs continue in production and are regarded as classics of modern design.
